Meet Our Teachers & Staff!

Our Staff

Dawn Baker (Director): Ms Dawn has been teaching for 37 years and studied at Towson University.  She has been at WEE for 20+ years teaching 3’s and Pre-K students before becoming the director.  Ms Dawn is also our Science teacher and loves to do art! She loves to paint, play, and learn new things.  She enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, and going to the movies and flea markets.

Angela Peterson: (Assistant Director and Pre-K Teacher) Ms Angela has been teaching for 15+ years and has been at WEE since 2013.  She received her BA in Psychology (emphasis on Child Psychology) and completed elementary education coursework at Mary Baldwin University.  She enjoys spending time with her two children (one of which is a WEE graduate).  She is actively involved in the children’s ministries at her church, volunteers with the PTA at her daughters school, enjoys reading, and loves to watch movies with her family.

Elise DeFilippis:  (Administrative Assistant and Pre-K Teacher) Ms Elise received her Bachelors Degree in Social Work and her MS in Human Service Management in Special Education from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College), and earned her 90 hour Early Childhood Education certificate .  She has been teaching for 10+ years and started at WEE in 2012.  When not at WEE Ms Elise enjoys spending time with her husband and two children (both WEE graduates), going to the beach, hiking, supporting children with Autism, reading, and travelling.

 

Our Teachers

Ari Barbuti: Ms Ari came to the WEE Center in 2018 with 11 years of teaching experience.  She received her Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from James Madison University and is finishing her Masters Degree in the Art of Teaching at Towson University.  Outside of WEE she likes to hang out with her dogs, visit her family, go to concerts, sing & dance, watch & go to sporting events, hike, ride her bike, swim, watch movies, and enjoy the world around her.

Bev Cvach: Ms Bev received her BS in Special Education/Elementary Education from the University of Maryland College Park.  In addition, she earned her 90 hour Early Childhood Education and 45 hour Infant & Toddler credentials.  In her down time, Ms Bev enjoys spending time with her family, travelling, and working outside.  She also watches her grandchildren while not at WEE.  Ms Bev’s children and three grandchildren (so far) are graduates of the WEE school.

Sharon Garvin: Ms Sharon joined the WEE Center in 2018! She previously worked at Child’s World (at Villa Julie-now Stevenson University) and has her AA degree in Early Childhood Education.  Outside of WEE she loves to bike and spend time with her girlfriends.  She also enjoys cooking for those she loves and reading.

Judi Grauel: Ms Judi Has been teaching since 1973 and has been at WEE since 1997 (with a 2 year retirement hiatus but then she missed us and came back).  Ms Judi received her AA and BA from UMBC and has taken several graduate level course in Special Education.  When she is not at WEE she likes to read, go to yard sales, swim, and spend time with her 5 grandchildren.

Barbara L. Gross:  Ms Barb attended CCBC for her Early Childhood Education Degree and continues to take classes.  She has been teaching at WEE for 30 years and her children are graduates of the school.  When not at WEE Ms Barb loves to be at home with her boyfriend and family.  She also loves to garden and read.

Erin Hoover: Ms Erin is new to our teaching staff this year! She is not new to WEE however, as her son graduated from the WEE Center in June, 2019.  Her younger son will be starting at WEE this fall.  Ms Erin started teaching in 2005 and received her BA in Psychology from Miami University and her MEd in Early Elementary Education from Ohio State University.  When she is not at WEE she enjoys spending time outside with her children, shopping for antiques, decorating, trying new restaurants, and exercising.

Marsha Kotzum: Ms Marsha has been teaching at WEE for 25+ years-20+ of which have been at WEE.  Her son is a WEE school graduate.  Ms Marsha received her Bachelor Degree in History from the University of Baltimore and her teaching certificate from the College of Notre Dame.  Ms Marsha loves to travel to the beach with her family, reading, and cooking.

Karen Mann: Ms Karen received her BS Degree in Criminology from the University of Maryland College Park, her 90 hour Early Childhood Education certificate from Loyola University, and her 45 hour Infant & Toddler certificate from CCBC.  Ms Karen has been teaching for 30+ years-27 of which have been at WEE.  Her children are also graduates of the WEE School.  When she is not at WEE Ms Karen enjoys being with her family, watching her grandchildren, and going to the beach.

Claire Nolan: Ms Claire has been teaching for 35+ years–30+ of which have been spent at WEE.  She obtained her Bachelors of Science Degree in Early/Elementary Education from Towson University.  When not at WEE Ms Claire enjoys quilting, scrapbooking, and being at home-her husband is renovating their house room by room.  She and her husband love to spend time with their three married children (all of which are WEE graduates).  They all live in three different states so Ms Claire and her husband have several vacation options.

Sherri Polk: Ms Sherri returned to the WEE Center in 2018, but she started teaching here in 1988! Ms Sherri has her Bachelors Degree in Outdoor Recreation and Studio Art.  She also has taken courses in Early Childhood Education.  When Ms Sherri is not at WEE she likes to run, exercise, and paint.
